Suppliers authorized to use the seal “Grated Cheese Quality Controlled” do not add starch in excess of the percentage permitted by statutory regulation. This percentage, just enough to retain the free-flowing properties, does not impact on flavour. Products bearing the seal of approval do not contain fats other than milkfat.

Food safety is self-evident; the safety of grated cheese is assured by means of the continuous monitoring of quality. Moreover all manufacturers of grated cheese have been granted EU approval, as is evident from the oval identification mark included on their packaging.
In addition, many companies’ operations are certified (by for example COKZ, HACCP, BRC, IFS, SKAL-ECO, ISO22000).

The inspections were carried out by the Dutch dairy-inspection authorities; COKZ; the Netherlands Controlling Authority for Milk and Milk Products and Qlip, specialised in the analysis of raw milk and dairy products, quality assurance and process certification.
